Hi, I’m Ian Phoenix, Director of Intelligence & Digital at the FCA. I’m a passionate advocate for Digital Transformation and Technology Leadership.
I joined the FCA in the Summer of 2021 to help set up a cross-FCA centre of excellence, making the FCA get the best out of its digital opportunities. Before coming to the FCA, I was the Director of Citizens’ Health Technology at NHS Digital. I was instrumental in the UK National Health Service (NHS) response to COVID-19.
I’ve also worked at the Home Office, overseeing the largest migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms in the world in 2018. I also led the digitalisation and transformation of the UK Immigration & Visa digital platforms during Brexit.
I spent many years in national security with expertise in data exploitation, analytics, and visualisations. I have held senior roles at Citibank, American Express, and Visa.
I have always been passionate about technology and its potential to transform businesses and society. My background and experience in leading digital transformation initiatives have given me a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
I am excited to write a series of blog posts and articles. They will focus on digital transformation, technology, leadership, and productivity. I have a background in data. I’m passionate about using technology to effect change. I believe that I have something valuable to share with others who are working to make their organizations more agile and adaptive. I’m also keen to learn from other people who have faced similar challenges.
In my posts, I will explore various aspects of digital transformation. I will cover the role of data in driving change, the importance of culture and organisational design, and the challenges and opportunities associated with leading digital and business transformations.

In particular, I have written about how businesses can use data and cloud technology to save millions of dollars each year. I have also written about my experience migrating from legacy platforms. I have also written about my experience migrating to services like Amazon. I have also written about how companies can use data to maximize their staff’s expertise. In each case, my goal has been to provide valuable insights. These insights can help businesses improve their operations and better serve their customers.
